ABOUT Catherine Mahugu

Catherine Mahugu is a Kenyan computer scientist, entrepreneur, and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree who co-founded SOKO in 2012 to solve a problem she saw clearly: talented Kenyan artisans had no way to reach the global market. A University of Nairobi graduate, Catherine built SOKO's mobile technology platform to give artisans the tools to connect with buyers globally — no internet connection, laptop, or formal bank account required. SOKO has since empowered thousands of artisans and become a recognized model for tech-enabled ethical fashion.
