A Howard University graduate who grew up in a Nigerian household where periods were never discussed, Amara received a PCOS diagnosis in 2020 after years of painful, dismissed symptoms. She founded femigist in 2021 with her mother, Chika — creating the brand and community she needed as a girl. A Black Ambition Prize winner, ULTA MUSE 2024 Accelerator fellow, and 2025 LIFT Beauty Accelerator winner (Rare Beauty Brands x JCPenney), she's building plant-powered hormonal care for women who've been left out of the wellness conversation.
