ABOUT Jen Atkin

Jen Atkin is the founder of OUAI, the hair and body care brand she launched in 2016 after becoming one of the most influential hairstylists in the world. Born in Utah, she moved to Los Angeles at 19 with around $300 and worked her way up from salon receptionist to a sought-after talent whose clients have included the Kardashian-Jenner family, the Hadids, and Jennifer Lopez.

Drawing on years of salon experience and a clear sense of what consumers actually wanted, Atkin created OUAI to solve common haircare problems with simple, effective, well-designed products. Leaning on her large social following and a community-first approach, she grew it into a nine-figure global brand spanning hair, body, supplements, and fragrance, which Procter & Gamble acquired in 2021.

About Ouai

OUAI (pronounced "way") is a haircare brand that grew into body, fragrance, and lifestyle. Founded by Jen Atkin in 2016, it was built on the idea that haircare shouldn't be one-size-fits-all, with products tailored to different hair types and textures. Marketed as the first "socially-connected" haircare brand, OUAI leaned on Atkin's celebrity clientele and social following to become a cult favorite — now stocked in 4,000+ retail locations including Sephora, Ulta, and Target, and acquired by P&G in 2021.
